Transitions Color Touch – what’s the buzz about?

We’ve recently dispensed our first pair of Transitions Color Touch lenses in a retro-inspired frame, and we’re loving the result!

So, what’s different about them?

Most of us know traditional photochromic lenses – the ones that change colour when you step outside. Over the years, the technology has come a long way. What was once considered one of the least fashionable features in the eyewear industry has become a trend in its own right.

Today, we have a choice of colours, lenses that can react behind the windscreen, and faster activation, especially when you step outdoors. Coming back indoors is still the weaker point, though, and some wearers find that the lenses take a little too long to return to their clear state.

Colour Touch lenses have a subtle hint of colour even when you’re indoors, with a choice of full or gradient tints – slightly darker at the top. Step outside, and they darken further.

They fit perfectly into the current trend for fashion tints. We’re increasingly seeing celebrities on the red carpet wearing tinted lenses that complement their outfits and complete the whole look.

But what about real life? Who might enjoy them beyond the fashion statement?

For some people, having a subtle tint throughout the day may simply feel more comfortable, particularly if they find bright light or glare bothersome. Others may like the added sense of privacy that a lightly tinted lens can provide, especially if they feel self-conscious about the appearance of their eyes due to certain eye conditions.

Of course, everyone’s needs are different, and whether a tint is suitable will depend on the individual and their visual requirements.

Fashion and function? We’re definitely here for it!
