The little things that make a difference…
As a small independent optician, I’ve been thinking a lot about how we can genuinely stand out. We believe it’s the small things that matter. We listen and learn, and try to improve all the time.
So, what is it that makes us a little different?
Here’s what we are good at:
Finding frames that truly fit
A wide range of low-bridge fit frames
A wide range of XS frames
Free, genuinely quiet, sensory-friendly appointments
In-house frame alterations and spring hinge repairs
Refill option for cleaning spray
Collecting used glasses for charity and emergency repairs
We are also working on improving how we communicate with patients across all channels:
Learning basic sign language to help hearing-impaired patients feel more relaxed
Speech-to-text apps on the phone for communication support
Avoiding emojis in posts to keep content screen-reader friendly
None of these things is dramatic on its own. But together, they can change a patient's experience.
I hope that these small details are what patients notice when they walk into a truly independent optician, where the focus isn’t just on selling glasses, but on making sure people feel understood, comfortable, and properly looked after.
If you like what we do, please feel free to share this post. There may be someone out there right now who could genuinely benefit from this kind of care.
